Census – Your Response NEEDED!
The U.S. Census Bureau began its follow-up operations on August 11 with door-to-door Census workers.
What To Expect
Census takers will wear masks and follow local public health guidelines when they visit your home. All census takers complete a virtual COVID-19 training on social distancing and other health and safety protocols before beginning their work in neighborhoods.
Census takers are hired from your area, and their goal is to help you and everyone in your home be counted in the 2020 Census. If the census taker who visits your home does not speak your language, you may request a return visit from a census taker who does speak your language.
If no one is home when the census taker visits, the census taker will leave a notice of their visit with information about how to respond online, by phone or by mail.
If you respond online or by phone today, a census taker is less likely to have to visit your home to collect your response.
How Can You Verify That Someone Is a Census Taker?
If someone visits your home this year to collect information for the 2020 Census, check to make sure they have a valid ID badge with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date. Census workers may also carry Census Bureau bags and other equipment with the Census Bureau logo.
Return Your Absent Voter Ballot Today!
Voters who already have a ballot at home are encouraged to fill it out, sign the back of the envelope, and return it as soon as possible. Ballots may be mailed, returned via the township drop box, or brought in person to the inside locked drop box in the township office.
With one week until Election Day, visiting the clerk’s office is the fastest way to be issued an absent voter ballot, which can be voted and returned to the clerk in the same visit. Applications for absent voter ballots are also available at Michigan.Gov/Vote.
Those residents who haven’t registered can register and vote in one trip to the clerk’s office now through 8 p.m. on Election Day, August 4. Proof of residency is required. Since we are within two weeks of the election, registration can no longer be done online or by mail without an additional visit to the clerk’s office. For added convenience, the clerk will hold additional office hours on Saturday, August 1st from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
All registered voters may choose to vote by mail or in person, and both options are absolutely safe and secure.
