The Treasurer is an elected position with a term of four years.
The Treasurer is responsible for collecting real and personal property taxes, collecting delinquent personal property tax, collecting mobile home specific tax, keeping an account of receipts and expenditures, issuing township checks, depositing revenues in approved depositories, and investing township funds in approved investment vehicles.
As additional duties, our Treasurer is a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Treasurer’s Department collects property tax monies for all local taxing jurisdictions. For 2020, the amount of monies collected for each of the local taxing jurisdictions were as follows:
Grand Haven Area Public Schools – $3.460 million
West Ottawa Public Schools – $2.883 million
Ottawa Area Intermediate School District – $3.338 million
Ottawa County – $2.882 million
State Education – $2.749 million
Loutit District Library – $308,680
Port Sheldon Township – $531,760
Port Sheldon Township Library Services (Herrick District Library) – $52,904
Port Sheldon Fire Department– $583,820
