RE: Pest Control Door to Door sales persons in the area
It has come to the attention of the township officials that various door to door pest control sale persons are operating in the area recently, and as part of their sales pitch are indicating that they have a permit or endorsement from the township for these sales calls.

PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP STATEMENT REGARDING POLITICAL SIGNS
As our community approaches a primary election in August and a general election in November, the Township wishes to make this statement regarding political signs.
The Township welcomes the political expression of its residents and property owners through political signs. For that reason, the Township will not attempt to regulate political signs through the strict application of the zoning ordinance. However, certain minimum requirements will be enforced.
Political signs shall be maintained in a safe condition. They must be removed promptly after the election, to avoid clutter and litter in the Township. Political signs are not allowed on public or private rights of way, or on public lands. Political signs may not be fixed to public utility poles.
Political signs may not exceed 32 square feet in area. They may not obscure address markers or other building signage. They shall not obscure the clear sight area at any intersection.
By means of the above regulations, to the greatest extent reasonably possible, the Township hopes to protect the health, safety, and welfare of its residents and visitors; avoid visual clutter; avoid hazardous distractions for vehicular traffic; and prevent signs which may be a structural danger to persons.
As approved in the June 3, 2024 Special Township Board Meeting, the following fee schedule will be effective on July 12, 2024.
On June 15 from 7am to noon at Black River Recycling, 11531 Lakewood Boulevard, Holland, we will have our Annual Clean-Up Day. Accepted materials for disposal include: Furniture, appliances, batteries, automobile tires (limit 4 per household), electronic equipment including computers, printers, TV’s, monitors, audio equipment and electronic power tools. Accepted materials for recycling include: Household recyclables: paper, plastics, tin cans, etc.
