NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Please take notice that a Public Hearing will be held at the Port Sheldon Township Hall, 16201 Port Sheldon Street, West Olive, Michigan, by the Port Sheldon Township Board of Trustees on August 14, 2024 at 5:30 pm to consider the following matters:
1. The purpose of the hearing is to obtain public comment regarding a petition of residents requesting the Township designate Pigeon Lake as SLOW – NO WAKE ZONE for VESSELS LARGER THAN 26’, and to amend the times of day that are SLOW- NO WAKE for vessels of any size.
After public hearing, Port Sheldon Township will consider whether or not to pass a resolution asking the State of Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Division to review and investigate the proposal, prepare a Departmental Preliminary Report and schedule another public hearing in the vicinity of the water body to gather public input on the preliminary report. Within the 90 days following the public hearing, if the department determines there is a need for special rules for the water body, the department shall propose a local ordinance or appropriate changes to local ordinance.
2. The purpose of the second public hearing is to obtain public comment regarding Port Sheldon residents’ request for a no-parking zone on the East and West sides of Olive Shores Ave. near Olive Shores Park.
Any persons interested in these matters may appear at such hearings in person or by agent or attorney. Written comments will be received at the Township Office until the night of the hearing.
