What are the next steps in the Master Plan process?
(All dates below are tentative, and could all shift further into the year if more discussion, amendments, or changes are made to the draft master plan, during any of the listed steps along the way toward adoption)
Completed Steps:
Earlier in March – Draft Master Plan distributed to Planning Commission
March 26th – Planning Commission receives Draft Master Plan with presentation from McKenna (Consultant)
April 23rd – Planning Commission Meeting – Review of Draft Master Plan, and distribution to Board of Trustees
May 14th – Board of Trustees Meeting – Township Board receives Draft Master Plan with recommendation from Planning Commission
If the board recommends distribution of the draft Master plan, the official 63-day review period begins. (within one week following board meeting)
We are here:
May 21st-July 22nd– 63-Day Review Period, view draft plans here
At the conclusion of the 63-Day review period, the Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing
(Public notice of the hearing will be published in the newspaper, posted on the website, and Township door at least 15 days prior to the hearing)
July 23rd– Planning Commission Meeting – Public Hearing
After which the PC could recommend the Master plan be adopted by the Board of Trustees
August 13th – Board of Trustees Meeting – Consideration of Master Plan Adoption by Township Board
So now that the Master Plan is adopted, what happens? – The Adopted Master Plan would be published on the township website. And the Planning Commission would refer to it for guidance when considering future requests from applicants for rezoning, or development to insure they are “consistent with the Master Plan.”
