Lake Michigan waves and brutal winds continue to batter the shoreline. The damage and dune erosion have taken a severe toll on our township parks. Stairs and walkways leading to both beaches are becoming unstable and erosion continues at an alarming rate with recent storms.
At a special board meeting held Wednesday, October 30th, after careful consideration and for the safety of our township residents and the general public, the township board voted unanimously to close both Kouw Park and Windsnest Park on November 1st. Recent attempts to close stairway access proved unsuccessful, and unfortunately, individuals have ignored posted warning signs, contributing to this decision.
The park gates will be closed and locked with access to all park features unavailable.
