• Port Sheldon Township, Ottawa County, Michigan

    Port Sheldon Township is a general law Township established in 1924, consisting of approximately 20 square miles. The township is bordered by New Holland Street on the South, 144th Avenue on the East, Fillmore Street on the North and the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan on the West.

    Two beautiful township beaches and a well groomed county park are presently located in the Township. A new County-owned beach property is currently under construction. The Township also has bike path system of approximately 15 miles.

    Mission Statement

    The Township of Port Sheldon is a wonderful balance of summer cottages and permanent homesteads along with many blueberry farms, evergreen nurseries and one large electric generating plant.  The mission of the township is to serve all of our residents equally and fairly by maintaining a healthy, safe and enjoyable place to live, work and vacation.

    We recognize the moral and ethical standard required of public officials and dedicate ourselves to the highest standards of integrity through providing transparency and open dialog. We strive to provide efficient and fiscally responsible level of service to Port Sheldon Township.

CLEAN UP DAY

 

On Saturday, April 23, from 8 a.m. – 12 noon we will have Dumpsters available for appliances (a $30 charge for Freon appliance and $10 charge for non Freon appliance), scrap metal and large items. NO TIRES, YARDWASTE, hazardous wastes, or motor vehicles of any kind. THEY ALSO WILL NOT BE EMPTYING ANY BURNING BARRELS.

Annual Meeting and Public Hearing on proposed Budget

BUDGET HEARING NOTICE

The Port Sheldon Township board will hold an Annual Meeting along with a public hearing on the proposed Township Budget for fiscal year 2016-17, at the Port Sheldon Township Office, 16201 Port Sheldon Street, West Olive Michigan on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing. A copy of the budget will be available for public inspection at the Port Sheldon Township Office, 16201 Port Sheldon Street, West Olive, Michigan the day prior to the meeting. This notice is posted in compliance with Public Act 267 of1976 as amended (Open Meetings Act). MCL 41.72a (2)(3) and the Americans With Disabilities Act. The Port Sheldon Township board will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting upon 7 days notice to the Port Sheldon Township board. NOTICE OF HEARING Port Sheldon Township Zoning Board of Appeals

Please take notice that a Public Hearing will be held at the Port Sheldon Township Hall, 16201 Port Sheldon Road, West Olive, Michigan 49460, by the Port Sheldon Township Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday, the 9th day of March, 2016, at 6:00 P.M. for the purpose of considering the following matters:

ITEM # 1 The request of Troxel Custom Homes, agent for Bradley & Diane Zeeff, for a variance of the Township Ordinance Section4.10 (d) (6) (a), for construction of an attached garage larger than allowed by ordinance, on property located at 15321 Baldwin Street, Permanent Parcel # 70-11-14-200-007.

Any persons interested these matters may appear at such hearings in person or by agent or attorney. Copies of the application and other documentation are on file at the Township Office for public inspection during business hours.
